Beyonce' Has a New Record Breaking Achievement

The effective multimedia journalism story I chose for this assignment is titled "Beyoncé Wins Grammy, Up for Five More, Including Top Album." This article was written in the music section of the Boston Globe website. The main audience for this website is young adults. I chose to traffic this particular website because I find it is a very reputable source which usually has great news involving music, and entertainment. The media types used for this article include text, photo, and online interactivity. After the title and a bit of online interactivity, one form of exemplified media coverage is a huge photo of Beyoncé herself at the 2015 Grammys. The photo was stunning, and was enough to grab my attention to seek further news. I also felt the size of the photo is what made the photo work so well for this particular article. The photo was an asset because people don’t want to solely hear about Beyoncé, they want to see her as well! An additional media type included online interactivity links for email, Facebook, twitter, Google plus and linked in. Such connections were found both in the beginning, and at the end of the text. Of course after reading such intriguing news about Beyoncé, I was tempted to share the news about “King Bey” with my Facebook friends. Online interactivity is always a plus for multimedia journalism. Online interactivity is how readers easily control the news they choose to share. The text itself was a great read. It included Beyoncé’s competition at this year’s Grammys. The informative detailed text helped the article to have a smooth but entertaining flow.

This article explains the 2015 Grammy achievements for Beyoncé, including her being the most nominated female in Grammy history! This is a huge achievement for Beyoncé. In addition, one of her nominations include album of the year.  The article informs Beyoncé surprisingly, has never won a Grammy for album of the year. Album of the year is the most desired categories for most artists. Beyoncé’s surprise album in 2014, was introduced to fans in the most pioneering way. She marked history by putting out a record breaking music-video album with no promotions.

In this given article, the one media coverage I would change is video. I would try to incorporate some form of video aspect for the news. Video is a very intriguing and desired form of media news nowadays. I felt a video would have spruced the article up a bit. All in all, three main multimedia journalism elements were very well presented throughout this online story.
